Lally joined one of the Drawing workshops at the New English Art Club in the early 1990s and continues to attend such classes.   Like watercolour, charcoal is fast, direct and responsive. It produces bold and fluid lines, and a whole range of textures.   Again like watercolour the joy of using charcoal as a drawing medium lies in its spontaneity and sensitivity.   Charcoal drawing helps my watercolour work. “When I draw in charcoal it helps me keep my eye in.”
